Field Technician Supervisor

Position Location: Hardin, MT

The Field Technician Supervisor provides leadership, management and accountability for customer work order completion and service stability. Their primary role is to serve our customers by ensuring that staff is properly trained and functioning in their role, has the tools and resources necessary to complete their work, are arriving on time to appointments and completing assigned work effectively.

The Field Technician Supervisor reports directly to the Plant Manager, and communicates successes, issues or concerns. Frequent coordination and communication with the Dispatch department is critical. All technicians conducting installation and service report directly to the Field Technician Supervisor.

Primary Duties *This list is not intended to be comprehensive, but give a baseline of expectations.

Provides Leadership, Management, and Accountability

  • Utilizes company core values to hire and discipline, and terminates when coaching is not possible
  • Identifies and provides training for all new and current technicians and provides corrective feedback
  • Regularly reviews time sheets and paid time off (PTO) requests for accuracy, and approves them taking projects or staffing into consideration
  • Ensures field technicians have appropriate tools and resources to complete their daily work
  • Completes performance evaluations for all direct reports at the end of the 90-day probationary period, and annually thereafter
  • Coaches technician team to properly handle customer needs, arrive on-time for all scheduled work appointments, and meet scorecard metrics on work order errors, quality assurance, etc.
  • Fills in for direct reports in the event of staff shortage, vacation time or sick time if workload cannot be rescheduled
  • Participates actively in the on-call rotation as requested

Monitors System Health

  • Reviews completed work to identify area issues and communicates findings with management
  • Reviews “Suspended Workorder Report” daily and ensures the necessary resources are allocated
  • Reviews “EQA Report” to ensure installation and service calls meet signal level quality standards
  • Reviews “Next Available” report and works to keep the schedule within standards

Communicates Effectively

  • Notifies Dispatch of known outages, what roughly is being done to resolve them, and estimated time to completion if possible so that they can cascade the information to the office staff
  • Notifies Dispatch and Management about issues preventing work from being completed and follows through to assist with the completion of necessary repairs
  • Assists with conducting the weekly “Technician L10” meetings consistently: Same time, same day, same agenda
  • Works hand-in-hand with the Maintenance Supervisor and coordinates resources to solve issues
  • Reports any known system or headend issues that cannot immediately be handled

Maintains our Resources

  • Performs monthly vehicle inspections for direct reports, coordinates maintenance and provides timely updates of repair timelines for field technicians
  • Coordinates repair, maintenance or replacement of field technician tools (meters, locate equip., etc.)
  • Keeps adequate spare equipment on-hand and ensures all team members know where it is located

Spends Wisely

  • Follows the company policy and Operations Department Spending Policy and coaches direct reports on appropriate spending as designated by such
  • Monitors and mitigates overtime hours for the technician team, coordinates changes with dispatch
  • Completes purchase orders according to company policy for items or resources used by their team
  • Seeks opportunities for cost effective spending and bulk purchases where beneficial
  • Reconciles credit card statement (if one has been issued) in a timely manner so accounting can appropriately allocate cost

Plans for the Future

  • Works with the Plant Manager on planning technician schedule changes for the system, submits changes for approval to the VP of Tech Ops.
  • Identifies and reports on areas of new growth potential or opportunities in their system(s)
  • Works with the Plant Manager on planning and budget Items for running and improving the system
  • Other duties as assigned

Customer Service Representative

Position Location: Pell City, AL

USA Communications is seeking a detail-oriented, organized and friendly individual to be a part of their team full-time. Must be able to communicate well and work independently. Position will handle customer accounts and sales by phone. Bilingual skills a plus. Starting wage based on experience. We offer competitive benefits and training. E.O.E./M-F


Field Technician

Position Location(s): Hardin, MT, Pagosa Springs, CO and Pell City, AL

Position Summary

The Field Technician provides direct accountability for customer work order completion and service stability. Their primary role is to provide excellent service to our customers. They accomplish this by arriving on time for their appointments, listening to the customer, treating them with respect, completing the necessary installation or service work, accurately completing their paperwork and payments, and thanking the customer for their continued business.

The Field Technician reports directly to the Plant Manager, or in some systems to the Field Technician Supervisor, and communicates successes, issues or concerns. Frequent and respectful coordination and communication with the Dispatch department is critical. Scheduled work is issued through dispatch and deviations to the schedule are coordinated between dispatch and the local management.

Primary Duties

Provides Excellent Customer Service

* Arrives on time for the scheduled time frame of the work order

* Follows the Customer Experience checklist to effectively communicate with the customer and treats them with courtesy and respect at all times

* Ensures all equipment or services are installed and active, cables are routed in a clean manner and that the customer’s services are working properly when they leave

* Avoids suspending a work order until all troubleshooting and repair options have been exhausted

* Follows the company dress code and represents the company professionally at all times

* Participates actively in the on-call rotation as requested

Monitors System Health

* Reviews their weekly technician scorecard metrics, and strives to improve in weak areas

* Utilizes Electronic Quality Assurance (EQA) and strives to comply on all installations and service calls

* Utilizes CMPC’s monitoring reports to keep Out of Spec modems in their area at a minimum

Communicates Effectively

* Is kind and courteous in all interactions with their co-workers, Dispatch and office staff

* Notifies Dispatch and management about issues preventing work from being completed and follows through to assist with the completion of necessary repairs

* Updates their timesheet on a daily basis, or within the two-day update window, and rarely needs corrections

* Participates in the weekly “Technician L1” meetings by focusing on the performance metrics (VTOs, Rocks, To-Do’s), communicating issues and bringing thoughts on solutions

* For those who are responsible for inventory in their system, completes the necessary reporting on-time and accurately

Maintains Our Resources

* Performs any maintenance work necessary or requested by their supervisor to keep the service delivery network in top operating condition

* Keeps their place of work clean from clutter and well maintained, as well as cleaning, organizing and washing their assigned vehicle

* Consistently performs monthly vehicle inspections and works with their supervisor to coordinate necessary maintenance

* Takes good care of all equipment issued by the company by avoiding dropping, rough usage and breakage, and takes special care not to leave it in a spot where it could become damaged.

* Works with their supervisor to coordinate repair, maintenance or replacement of field technician tools (meters, locate equipment, etc.)

Spends Wisely

* Balances cost and convenience when refueling their vehicle and in maintenance being performed

* Follows the Operations Department Spending Policy and any company-issued spending guidelines

* Complies with requests by Dispatch and their supervisor to mitigate overtime hours worked

* Completes purchase orders according to company policy for items or resources they purchase

* Seeks opportunities for cost effective spending and bulk purchases where beneficial

Underground & Aerial Construction Manager

Position Location: Kearney, NE

Position Summary

The Construction Manager provides leadership, management and ultimate accountability for all aspects of the service delivery networks in their system(s). Their primary role is to serve our customers by ensuring the system is operating properly and that necessary maintenance, additions and repairs are being completed in a timely manner. Additionally, they accomplish this through ensuring that staff is properly trained and functioning in their role, arriving on time to appointments and completing assigned work effectively.

The Construction Manager reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer, and communicates successes, issues or concerns. All construction technician teams in the managed system report directly to the Construction Manager.

Primary Duties *This list is not intended to be comprehensive, but give a baseline of expectations.

Provides Leadership, Management, and Accountability

  • Ensures the team is active at all times, working and helping to meet company goals and objectives
  • Utilizes company core values to hire and discipline, and terminates when coaching is not possible
  • Identifies and provides training for all new and current employees and provides corrective feedback
  • Regularly reviews time sheets and paid time off (PTO) requests for accuracy, and approves taking projects or staffing into consideration
  • Completes performance evaluation for all direct reports at the end of the 90-day probationary period, and annually thereafter
  • Coaches construction technician team to meet scorecard metrics on work order errors, quality assurance, etc.
  • Ensures monthly safety meetings or online sessions are conducted for the construction technician team
  • Fills in for direct reports in the event of staff shortage, vacation time or sick time if workload cannot be rescheduled
  • Participates actively in the on-call rotation as requested

Monitors System Health

  • Monitors billed amounts for construction crews and ensures the appropriate financial goals are met
  • Reviews completed work to identify area issues and communicates findings with management
  • Reviews “Suspended Workorder Report” daily and ensures the necessary resources are allocated
  • Collects and reports on regulatory filing data if applicable

Communicates Effectively

  • Notifies Dispatch of planned maintenance or known outages and follows through to completion
  • Conducts weekly Departmental Level 10 meetings consistently: Same time, same day, same agenda
  • Attends weekly “Operations L10” meetings and relays issues and successes from local meeting.
  • Reports any system or headend issues that cannot immediately be handled

Maintains our Resources

  • Performs or oversees monthly vehicle inspections, coordinates maintenance and provides timely updates of repair timelines
  • Coordinates repair, maintenance or replacement of technician tools (meters, locate equipment, etc.)
  • Keeps adequate spare equipment on-hand and ensures all team members know where it is located
  • Coordinates repair/replacement of failed headend and plant equipment or disposes of if unusable
  • Ensures headend channel card is accurate, air conditioner is maintained/cleaned, generator is regularly tested and functioning, and maintains ad insertion equipment as needed.
  • Coordinates or performs pole attachments and relocations as required
  • Ensures locates for the system are performed in a timely manner

Spends Wisely

  • Follows the company policy and Operations Department Spending Policy and coaches direct reports on appropriate spending as designated by such
  • Monitors and mitigates overtime hours for the construction technician team, coordinated with dispatch
  • Completes purchase orders according to company policy
  • Seeks opportunities for cost effective spending and bulk purchases where beneficial
  • Reconciles credit card statement in a timely manner so accounting can appropriately allocate cost

Plans for the Future

  • Plans and coordinates construction projects to keep the crews producing at all times, and makes the construction team available to complete assigned work
  • Plans appropriately for overhead or underground construction needs including the appropriate permits, crossings, attachments, engineering, hardware, supplies and the like
  • Identifies and reports on areas of new growth potential or opportunities in their system(s)
  • Works with the Chief Operations Officer on planning and budget Items for running and improving the system
